History Still a Mystery!!

History Still a Mystery!!!
It was not a regular Friday night. The excitement of going to an old house, across the river, for my History’s project was there. The stars were twinkling on the surface of the water. The moon was bright. The wind was not blowing hard either. The weather was perfect to get started with the weekend and my project as well.
Under the moonlight and breezy night, Sam and I hopped into a boat at mid-night. Sam is my cousin and most of all, the "life savior" at my bad times.  He has always been with me in my ups and downs and yet again he was ready to help me, finish my History’s Project.  I was supposed to write a paper on antique pieces and for that I needed to do some research so Sam and I decided to go to the nearest old house we had in our town.
When we were kids Sam and I used to go across the river and there used to live an old lady, all by her self.  Her house was righht on the edge of the river. We used to greet her but she would never respond to us. She was a weird ,old lady. But one day , we came to know that she died and after her death, that house shut down  forever.
Last week, both of us went to check on that old house, it was in a bad condition. The paint was washed away with rain water, the doors and windows were broken and the house seemed perfect for my project.  We tried to get in there that day but there was this tall, colored lady with no hair , staring at us and she did not let us in. We thought she was the one, looking after that house now  so we decided to peek in the house at night.
By the time, we reached there, it was one am and we were starving already. Sam took out his wallet and he found some coins, we looked for a vending machine but could not find one. I remembered , the lady had a beautiful yard behind her house so we went there to try our luck and to our surprise, the yard still looked the same. We wondered who took care of that yard and not the house.
There were hazelnuts falling on the ground so we grabbed a handful of nuts and put it in our pockets. Sam looked really happy and so was I. The night was getting darker and I was not sure how to get into the house yet. We headed towards the back door of the house from the yard and on the way, I stepped onto something. It was something hard. I could feel it on my foot. It was too dark to figure out what that really was and the torch light, in my hand was not helping at all.
Sam was ahead of me and I whispered his name. “Hey, Sam, Could you please come back here for a second?” What is it Jessica? I am trying to find a way to get in here” said Sam. He was super excited for some reason but I started to get scared.
I picked up that thing and got my eyes close to it and I realized it was the head from a puppet. I wondered where the missing part was. I secretly put it in my bag so that I could show it to my professor and get an extra credit for that. I was looking for Sam but he was nowhere to be seen.  I reached, at the back door and tried to open it but could not. My eyes were still looking for Sam and finally he showed up. “Where had you been, Sam?”   “I went to see if I could find some tools to break this door and look what I found?” What?? I said with an excitement. “Coins from Singapore, said Sam with a big smile on his face.  “Bingo!! Now, I am pretty sure I will get an A on this project.” The coins looked old. He found those coins buried in the yard.  “This place has a lot of history.” said Sam.
I looked at my watch and it was almost two in the morning and we’re still outside of the house. “Sam, do something” I yelled at him impatiently.  ‘’Alright , Do have anything to unlock the door, its broken already so we don’t need to put that much effort to unlock it, Do you have hair pins on you ?? “No, let me check in my bag, here I have a ruler. Would this work?” Certainly! said Sam and luckily it worked and finally we got into the house.
The house looked miserable. There were spider webs all around the walls. There was no light. We saw the old furniture sitting there for a decade or so.  “Hey Jessica, I am thirsty, I need some water.” mummed Sam.  “Sam, Are you crazy or what? There is no light in here and I don’t know where the kitchen is. "
I headed towards the right side of me assuming there was the kitchen and I could get some water for Sam and yes I was on the right direction. In the dark, I bumped on a table and there was this beautiful, classic jar sitting on the table and there was  half filled water in it.
“Hey Sam! Are you still thirsty? I whisperd.  “No, Jess I am good! I forgot that I had a bottle of water on me”   I was so mad at him. He acts weird sometimes but then he's my favorite cousin.  I was finding a way to get back to the room where Sam was.
“Jess, I found a map.” shouted Sam, “MAP??” What kind of map, Sam?" I snatched the map from Sams hand and got a closer look of it. The map was wrapped with a soft, woven piece of cloth and there were feathers hooked on that cloth. We both were curious to see what the map was all about. The map was torn and was really old. We could barely see what was written there. But, yes one thing we could clearly see was a stamp on it. The map was stamped. "Danger zone X"
I started to freak out and got weird vibes as soon as I saw that. I did not want to stay any longer there therefore, I insisted Sam to get out of there and go back home but Sam had always been an adventurous. He wanted to know more about that place now. I was so paniced that I  almost forgot, I was there for my history’s project. “Sam, let’s get out of here, this house is haunted” Please!! Let’s go!!!  “ Jess, don’t you want to get an A on this project? “ If you want an A, stay here. I am doing some serious business here." he giggled. “No, B is more than enough for me, I cried."  Sam got busy figuring out what the map was all about but no Luck!
My heart beat was racing. I wanted to go home so bad but Sam did not want to go at all. I sat in the corner of room ,bitting my nails.    "Look at this." said Sam , "Now , what Sam?  " It’s a statue of a Native American Drummer. “SO”??  “Can you see this, you can  actually open this tiny drum?” and see what’s in here A KEY?? said Sam
As soon as he took the key out of that drum, the drum started to beat. My lung was at my mouth. I started to cry. “Sam, let’s go home, please! Sam was scared too but he acted as if he was not scared at all. We both ran towards the back door and escaped from the house. We both got into our boat and I looked back at the house and the light was on ,in that house. The house was indeed hauted.
There was a lot going in that house.  The evidences, we found in that house proved that it had a  the biggest secret hidden,. I somehow got an A on that project and now I would like to go back to that house someday and unfold the truth of that house.
